50 Not Out !

The 9th of October saw us reach a milestone and at the club where Dan started playing football, Hedon Rangers, where we handed over our fiftieth defibrillator.

We couldn’t have done it without you….. From running 5k’s, 10k’s, Half & Full Marathons, walking from coast to coast, to those who regularly turn out for Quiz Nights, Charity Concerts and everyone who has taken shirt “on-tour”

It has been a pleasure over the last six years to meet everyone and build Dan’s legacy and we would like to thank you all.

Here are all the clubs that have benefited from the donation of vital life saving equipment; at least one of which, we know has saved a life.

Donation and Fund Raising

Following the decision by Virgin to close the Virgin Money Giving service on 30th November the trustees have chosen Peoples Fundraising as the replacement platform

We have updated the Donate link at the top of our site to get you where you need to be and will be updating the page with fundraising events just as soon as we have them confirmed

The Daniel Wilkinson Foundation to partner with Worsbrough Bridge AFC for the 2021/22 Season

We were recently contacted by Worsbrough Bridge AFC (Barnsley) inviting us to be their charity partner for the coming season.  They are keen to join with us and promote awareness of sudden cardiac death in the young.  They will also wear our logo on their 1st team away kit.  The team plays in the Northern Counties East League and this covers a large area in which  to promote The Foundation.

Thanks go to Mark Booth, Chairman of Worsbrough for contacting us; we greatly appreciate the approach and look forward to meeting the club in the near future and to work with them on awareness campaigns.

Worsbough Bridge AFC commented on the partnership as follows:

Worsbrough Bridge AFC are proud to announce our partnership with The Daniel Wilkinson Foundation from next season.

Over recent years our football club has actively supported several worthwhile charities to try and help raise awareness and we want to continue this next season with our support for the foundation set up in Daniel’s memory. As a Barnsley based football club, we know how important football was to Daniel as he played for one of our neighbours at Shaw Lane FC.

Our 1st team away team kit will next season promote the great work that the Foundation plays in raising awareness of Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD). SCD is the leading cause of death in young athletes during sport and the majority of deaths occur with NO PRIOR SYMPTOMS or family history. Our aim is to help to support Daniel’s Foundation to raise awareness of Sudden Cardiac Death in the young and we look forward to working them with as a member of the Northern Counties East League to raise awareness of this condition.

We want to thank The Daniel Wilkinson Foundation for allowing us to work with them.

Donated Defib Saves Life !

We were contacted on Sunday evening by Stocksbridge Park Steels Juniors to advise that the defibrillator we donated to them earlier in the year had to be used on Sunday morning.

It saved the life of a 14 year old boy who collapsed while playing football. Ironically, he was called Daniel too.

We understand he is recovering well and we wish him and his family all the very best. This has been very emotional for us all at The Foundation but this is exactly why we do what we do.

Our best wishes to everyone involved at Stocksbridge Park Steels too. This shows how important it is for sports clubs to have defibrillators on hand. ??? #doitfodan

Today is a massive day for Dan’s sister, Helen

A couple of years ago someone entered her into the London Marathon as a joke, there was no way she was going to attempt to do it.

Then the worst thing ever happened! Dan passed away suddenly. Just days later Helen received confirmation that she had a place in the marathon. She said straight away she was going to “do it for Dan”. She deferred her place for a year and now today is the day SHE WILL DO IT FOR DAN.

Thanks to everyone who has donated and supported her. This is one brave lady but we know Dan is going to be by her side every step of the way and will see her across the finish line.
